Imagery - The Key to Unlocking Your Performance Potential (Part 1)

" Imagination is more powerful than knowledge. & quot; - Albert Einstein
Did you know that, as children, we enjoyed a significant advantage over adults with mental advantage of the fact that most of us, not to mention missed, as we grew into adulthood? Because of the lack of consistent practice, we have gradually lost the ability to use effective mental skills that most children seem to have naturally - Imagery.
Imagery mental ability, language Mind
Because of people think in pictures, it is not a thought that we create in our mind that is not in any way connected with the mental image (and often with a sense) of nature. We often talk about seeing our mind& 39;s eye " & quot; it simply meant that when we imagine something in our view, we see the whole picture of what we are thinking about, as if We were looking at it through the camera, or through our own eyes. Some people refer to this process as " visualization & quot;, but I prefer the term " image & quot; because it is broader and more easily included in other senses of vision. In fact, this would indeed be accurate to describe the image as the language of reason. You can verify the truth of this statement for the following simple exercise.
Take few minutes to think about your mother - before you read any further
Now as you have done so, you probably saw " & quot; ( " in your mind& 39;s eye ") image of what looks like thy mother, that her hair color, height as it is, what it looks like sitting at the dining table or in front of the TV room, or wearing favorite outfit. You may have to screen it from the front or from side to profile. You may have even seen " & quot; his mother works in the garden or favorite room, etc. Whatever you saw " & quot;, it is likely that you have created a set of mental images or pictures in your mind (and perhaps even related emotional response), which shows how you see your mother, standing there himself, as if in portrait or how it might look like in different situations. Consider this: how could think about your mother, if you can not see " & quot; in your mind& 39;s eye?
Now, take a few minutes to think about his home
Again, it is likely that you have seen " (in the mind& 39;s eye) is a picture of what your house or apartment is probably from the outside, is that your front lawn or driveway can look, or the fact that one or more of the numbers may look. You may have even seen the image of your spouse or children a day watching television or all of your family members sitting on the plate around the kitchen table. Again, you put in your mind a set of images and feelings that reflect your understanding " homes & quot;, and what it is like when the important people in your life are at it. It should be clear to you from this simple little show that we really think " & quot;, photographs, it is not important that we are thinking about. In fact, try thinking of something to see him without " & quot; in mind your eyes machine on your desk work, your favorite hats, and so on!
The Influence on Our Emotions
Images images that you put your mind to directly affect how you feel. These feelings, in turn, will affect the behavior and the complex behaviour affects your personal effectiveness in what you do.
Think return to a situation where you were looking particularly sad, scary or exciting movie? Your body responded directly to the images and feelings that have been developed for television or a movie screen, as you watched the show. Sometimes you felt tension, or even fear in anticipation of the next stage (where the villain or substance jumps from the shadows), or relief when the hero, which was hanging on his hands from the shelf during high buildings manage to back up to the roof for safety. While viewing the film particularly unfortunate, you may have even started to cry. Nevertheless, intellectually you know that such situations were not real, they were the role of the actors with the scripts, which just became part of your imagination.
How is that the imagined scenes " & quot; caused your body to respond to a very real way? It is important that you understand that a lot of images and beliefs that you create in your mind is a reality that really exists for you. This reality " & quot; actually serves as mental computer program that sends you to perform in a manner that is consistent with the images in your mind and feelings that are associated with these images. I can illustrate this point with a specific example.
Imagine that I made a wooden board flat on the floor in front of you. On board, six inches in width absolutely rigid, and 20 feet long. If I asked you to walk the length of government, not touching the floor, do you think you would you be able to do it? It is likely that not only most of you will be able to do it, but you probably could do this with his eyes closed, or even make it back, if you put your mind to it! Now, we have determined that it is likely that you could easily go through the entire length of the 20 - foot board when he was on the floor in front of you.

Now, we have determined that it is likely that you could easily go through the entire length of the 20 - foot board when he was on the floor in front of you.
Imagine now if I took that same 20 - foot board (that is six inches wide absolutely rigid, and that you know that you could easily traverse when placed on the floor) and suspended it between two buildings, 100 feet in the air! Even assuming there was no wind whatsoever, and that I could make it absolutely rigid - as it was on the floor - you think you can still go to the lengths on board between buildings easily? Probably not, and yet, this is the same board with the same physical size and characteristics. Something in the minds of most people would stop them even trying to walk 20 feet in length board, and if they decided to try to do so, the level of tension (and fear) that they feel would be much higher. Many of us will work to freeze " & quot;, and unable to move at all. What has changed?
The only thing that really changed in this new situation is your view about the problem or physical danger you face. Because the impact of the fall for advice when he was on the floor directly in front of you is not there compared to the consequences of falling for advice when he was 100 feet above ground, you think nothing of walking with a cane, and on the floor, and indeed, can perform trick with ease! Once your point of view that the challenges facing the changes you (you imagine all the unpleasant things that can happen, and may even see " & quot; themselves falling to the ground in the mind& 39;s eye), your ability to perform tasks change and. This is a very important point to remember
The The bad news is that we create our own set of mental images, and these images directly affect our feelings, behavior, and our ability perform.
The Good News is that we create our own set of mental images, and these images directly affect our feelings, behavior, and our ability perform.
It entirely depends on the kind of mental imagery that you put to mind, because the process has become the dominant image of thought that control how you think, as you yourself and, ultimately, as you please. We will study the process of shooting even in the next tranche of the Performance File.
